[Project Overview]
Canada's Arctic Foreign Policy marked a pivotal moment in the nation's approach to Arctic sovereignty, released amid escalating tensions between the US, Russia, and circumpolar nations. The challenge was to transform a complex 50-page policy document into an accessible, visually compelling publication for diplomats, officials, and the public, balancing the gravity of geopolitical strategy with clear communication.
I designed the complete editorial layout in InDesign, developing a typographic system that guided readers through Canada's Arctic priorities with clarity and authority. The design incorporated archival and contemporary photography, and structured chapter divisions that made dense policy content approachable. The publication was distributed digitally to international audiences and printed for Canadian officials, with coverage in CBC, Global News, and other major outlets. The design needed to serve dual purposes: a working document for diplomats and a public-facing statement of Canadian Arctic policy during a critical geopolitical moment.
